Out & About in the Community 2024
4 April - Keeping Kids Safe Online Forum
I hosted a P&C eSafety Forum with the Minister for Communications, the Hon Michelle Rowland.
It was all about keeping parents informed on the best ways to keep their kids safe online when gaming and using social media. Those who attended also received my new P&C Kit
Thank you to Russel Lea Public School for hosting the event and eSafety for providing parents with extra insight on the day.
22 March - Holi in Homebush
Last week I hosted a celebration of Holi with Member for Strathfield, Jason Yat-Sen Li MP and the Mayor of Strathfield Cr. Karen Pensabene
It was so wonderful to be able to celebrate this festival of light and colour with the whole community.
Thanks in particular go to Burwood Police and Auburn Police for joining in the fun.
18 March - Seniors Visit Australian Parliament House
I met with seniors from Reid who visited the Australian Parliament House. They also heard from Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Milton Dick MP.
13 March - Mock Parliament with Trinity Grammar School
I hosted my first Mock Parliament of the year at Trinity Grammar Strathfield for those in Years 4, 5 and 6.
Students got to learn about how Parliament works, and more specifically, about the passing of bills into Acts of Parliament.
12 March - Penny Wong in Burwood
I showed the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator the Hon Penny Wong around Burwood.
We chatted with local businesses at Burwood Chinatown and enjoyed some of Reid's best food.
2 March - Welcoming The Babies
I hosted my first 'Welcoming the Babies' event to welcome our littlest residents to the community.
Minister for Youth and Early Childhood Education, the Hon Anne Aly and I got to meet so many adorable babies, toddlers and their families.
I held this event because I wanted to give young families an opportunity to find out about where they can go to get help and to also connect with each other.
22 February - Volunteers Afternoon Tea
I co-hosted a 'Thank You Afternoon Tea' with Volunteer NSW to celebrate and recognise the enormous contribution of volunteers across our community.
I was joined by Minister for Social Services, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Mayor of Burwood John Faker, Member for Strathfield Jason Yat-Sen Li MP, and NSW Minister for Women, Seniors, Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Jodie Harrison MP.
21 February - Win for Wentworth Point!
I celebrated the completion of the Bennelong Parkway and Hill Road intersection traffic lights at Wentworth Point with Donna Davis MP and Federal Minister, the Hon Catherine King MP.
It was an election commitment I'm proud to have delivered for locals who have fought hard to advocate on this issue for years.
