In early 2023, I stood together with the Rhodes community as we fought to retain a local fire station.

The Minns Labor Government has announced that land has been secured for a new fire station in Rhodes.

The new state-of-the-art fire station will be built on Oulton Avenue, opposite Rhodes Waterside.

Fire and Rescue NSW will start consulting on this new fire station, which will be much bigger in size and likely to be a mixed facility meaning it will be home to permanent and on-call firefighters, increasing capacity and improving response times for our local area.

With the current Rhodes station being built in 1921 it no longer meets the needs of our growing community.

I would like to thank all the Rhodes community members who have campaigned hard for this. I would like to particularly thank Councillor Andrew Ferguson for his longstanding advocacy on this issue.

Working with NSW Premier Chris Minns, I am making sure that the infrastructure in our growing area keeps up with demand by investing in the services our community relies on most.

I look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of this important project.
