We know the DFO roundabout has been a headache for locals - traffic jams on weekends, peak-hour chaos, and major event gridlock. You’ve waited a long time for a real fix, and we’ve listened.
For years, previous Liberal governments promised to fix it but didn’t deliver. That’s why since coming to government, we have pushed so hard for real progress together. And now we are delivering a long-awaited fix for the DFO roundabout our community deserves.

The old plan for a Diverging Diamond Interchange from Transport for NSW was too complicated and would take too long to build. That's why we've both advocated and pushed for a simpler and more efficient solution.
- New traffic lights for better flow.
- Extra lanes:
- From Underwood Rd two new lanes to provide: 1 left turn, 2 straight, 1 right turn.
- From Australia Avenue two new lanes to provide: 1 left turn, 2 straight, 2 right turns.
- From Homebush Bay Drive northbound off-ramp two new lanes to provide: 2 left turns, 2 right turns.
- From Homebush Bay Drive southbound off-ramp two new lanes to provide: 1 left turn, 1 straight/right, 2 right turns.
- New U-turn option for easier access to DFO.
This design will make it safer and easier for everyone - drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and public transport users.
Funding: The Albanese and Minns Labor Governments are committed to ensuring that the upgrade receives the funding it needs. That's why both governments have contributed an additional $50 million each, bringing the total investment to $200 million.
Next steps: Construction is expected to start in 2027 and take about two years.
Recent improvements already completed: Safety upgrades were completed in December 2024 to help traffic flow until the big fix happens.
I'll keep fighting for the infrastructure our growing community needs and as the project moves towards construction, I'll continue to keep you updated every step of the way. Fill out the form below so I can keep you up to date!
